Playing Golf In The Cold Can Be Tough

Friday, January 13, 2017

“There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad golfers.” Does this statement hold true for you?

It’s hard to part ways with your true love. That’s why some golfers try so hard to take a break from playing during the winter months, but they just can’t stop. If you’re one of these dedicated individuals — known as “all-weather golfers” — who plays in the winter, then US Hole In One is here to the rescue!

Learn how to prep your skills to play in the extreme cold.

Frost on the course may prove too slippery at times. Make sure it’s safe to play before you head out.

Know that the cold weather will shorten your drive. A good tip is to warm your ball up before you play, or play with a lower-compression golf ball.

Accept that your performance will simply be better in the summer than in the winter. It’s helpful to keep your body moving, through shivering can interfere with your game.

Playing golf in the cold can be tough, but it’s not impossible for the determined players out there! Discover more tips and details on how to play winter golf.

If you’re feeling really brave and want to sponsor a golf tournament this winter, stay safe out there. You’re in luck because we offer coverage all year round. Make it worth it for those golfers who braved the cold and get prize insurance today! Call US Hole In One at 888-882-5440 or email us at [email protected].

Welcome Winter By Improving Your Golf Game

Wednesday, November 23, 2016

Happy Thanksgiving from everyone at US Hole In One! We hope you have a great holiday spent with family and friends. Now that Thanksgiving is here, it means that winter is less than a month away!

The most loyal golfers don’t stop playing just because winter is almost here. Do you have extra time off during the holidays and are hoping to play despite the cold? If you’re planning to play golf during the winter, there’s some great tips to keep in mind. We’ve highlighted a few important ones:

  • Your golf course par will change with winter conditions. You may have to add on strokes to make up for harsh conditions.
  • Try practicing at an indoor simulator. It may not be the same as playing on an outdoor course, but there won’t be any snow or slush to worry about!
  • Use the winter months to improve your game for spring. Given the cold weather conditions, your skills will likely be affected. Instead of striving for perfection in imperfect course conditions, simply create goals to achieve by the springtime, when the regular golf season returns.

Keep in mind that winter won’t last forever, but your passion for golf can be maintained all year round by hosting a golf contest! Call us at 888-882-5440 or email us at [email protected] to get started on purchasing coverage.

Playing Golf In Winter

Friday, November 11, 2016

Winter starts earlier for golfers than it does for most people. During the warmer months of golf season — April to November — golfers can enjoy playing in dry and warm weather. These weather conditions allow the ball to travel farther and more smoothly.

Now that winter is here, golfers need to adjust their playing strategy for making different shots to get the same successful results. Cooler winter temperatures and wet fairways cause the ball to not travel as far and to sit lower in the grass. Winds are often stronger in the winter and may cause the ball to stray from your intended path.

There are many ways to improve your golf performance during winter. To give your shot more impact, try moving the ball back in your stance slightly before you swing. Now is a great time of year to experiment with hybrid clubs. If your shot is typically long, try using wood clubs instead of iron.

With the proper technique and preparation, winter weather won’t affect your golf abilities. You’ll continue to win big all year round! If you’re interested in sponsoring a hole in one, putting, or shootout contest, contact US Hole In One by calling 888-882-5440 or emailing [email protected].

Celebrating Halloween, Golf-Style

Thursday, November 3, 2016

We said farewell to October this past Monday by celebrating Halloween. All over America, people love to dress up in costumes and go trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. Even golf pros took some time out from their busy schedules to celebrate with their families!

Arnold Palmer, one of golf’s greatest faces, passed away in September. Many people celebrated his legacy by dressing up as him for Halloween, including Jonathan Byrd’s son, Jackson. Jason Day, the current number 1 golf player on the planet, dressed up as Ryu from Street Fighter, while his family went as other characters from the video game.

Kids of PGA pros weren’t the only ones to have fun. PGA star Sergio Garcia took a more casual approach to his Halloween costume, managing to wear an orange shirt to channel his holiday spirit! A number of fans were inspired by Beef Johnson, creating some of the best costumes we’ve ever seen.

See all these and more of our favorite golf Halloween costumes to get some inspiration for next year!

Until then, are you looking for the perfect way to give your golfers no tricks and awesome treats? Consider hosting a hole in one, putting, or shootout contest at your next tournament! Contact us to get started by calling 888-882-5440 or emailing us at [email protected].

Tiger Woods was originally slated to participate in the Safeway Open but announced earlier this week that he would not be playing because he felt his game was not up to par. Fans were sad to see him go, but nevertheless, the event features a number of talented golfers. We can’t wait to see them perform their magic.
