Can I Run a Hole In One Shootout Contest on a Par 4 Hole?
We recognize that it is sometimes difficult to strum up interest in an after-round hole in one contest if it needs to take place a cart ride away from the clubhouse. Consequently, we do permit, and even encourage, you to choose any hole on the course for your shootout contest; just as long as it remains at least 165 yards for the men and 150 yards for the ladies. We recommend that you choose the hole closest to the clubhouse so that all of the non-participants in the hole in one shootout can be spectators for the fun.
If you choose to hold your shootout on a par 4 hole, all of the original rules regarding witnesses, video, shots, etc. for the coverage remain in place. The only change is that the teeing ground for the shot does not need to be an actual tee box. Instead, you must measure out your distance from the flagstick to a place in the fairway. At that position, the contestant is permitted to tee the ball up and swing away.
